Tooth-colored composite resin fillings are the restoration of choice for health conscious adults. If you have amalgams in your mouth now, and you'd like to become mercury free and metal free, talk with Dr. Lowe about replacing your fillings with composites. It's never too late to improve your health and beauty.
A significant cavity or crack will compromise a tooth and lead to more significant problems if not treated promptly. As a cosmetic and restorative dentist, Dr. Lowe prefers to place all-porcelain, white crowns when possible. For teeth that show when you smile or laugh, porcelain crowns provide a natural looking, yet durable and healthy restoration. All crowns require two visits to our office. At the first visit, Dr. Lowe will prepare your teeth and take an impression. He'll work with our trusted dental lab technicians to create your lifelike, durable crown while you wear a temporary restoration. In your second visit, Dr. Lowe will remove the temporary and secure the permanent crown in place.
If you've suffered with missing teeth, the time has come to reclaim a fully functional, attractive, dependable smile. Modern prosthetic dentistry has come a long way in the past few years. New materials at our dental lab allow technicians to create lifelike replacement teeth on comfortable, securely fitting foundations. Depending upon your unique case, Dr. Lowe may recommend:
A bridge is a prosthetic tooth (or teeth) that attaches on one or both sides to teeth prepared with dental crowns. A fixed bridge is permanently joined onto the neighboring abutment teeth (crowned teeth) and consists of three basic units: the false tooth or teeth (called a pontic) and two abutment crowns. The style of bridge we suggest will depend upon the strength and health the abutment teeth, as well as the location of the gap in relation to the rest of your dentition. If healthy adjacent abutment teeth aren't available, a surgically-implanted metal post, known as a dental implant, may offer a solid alternative. For a bridge that replaces many teeth, we may recommend a removable partial denture or implant-supported prosthesis.
At your checkup, we will inspect your soft tissues for oral cancer, periodontal disease, and other problems. The dentist will also look at each tooth in your mouth to assess problems like tooth decay or cracks, as well as old dental work. Sometimes old dental work wears out and needs to be replaced. We will be happy to replace metal fillings, inlays, onlays, and crowns with tooth-colored alternatives.
By coming in for a chackup every six months, we can often reduce your potential for large dental problems. If you have not scheduled a checkup lately, be sure to call us now to make your appointment!
Everyone over the age of four or five should visit the dentist for a professional hygiene appointment twice per year. Our gentle hygienists will inspect your gums for periodontal disease, the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults. The hygienists are specially trained to detect, deter, and treat gum disease. We prefer to help you maintain optimal oral health so that you never have to worry about gum disease. However, if you develop periodontal problems, we're here to help you.
We can perform tooth extractions quickly and with minimal discomfort to treat a host of dental conditions, including advanced gum disease. Patients suffering from broken, cracked, and/or excessively decayed or damaged teeth will benefit from this often simple and straightforward procedure.
We partner with you before, during, and after the dental procedures we recommend. If you have an extraction scheduled, you can feel confident that we will fully explain what to expect and will provide thorough and compassionate care. Finally, many patients who have extractions performed benefit from dental implants or mini dental implants paired with crowns to rebuild the tooth, so ask us about this prosthetic option.
Oftentimes, root canal therapy can be completed in a single appointment. We simply clean out the diseased canal, fill it canal with a biologically-inert substance, seal it from further infection, and you're on your way.
